Neuromodulators, also know as neurotoxins, muscle relaxer, and TOX, are botulinum toxin A injections that relax wrinkles on the face. Commercially, they are known as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Daxxify.
Constant muscle movement over time, will etch the lines on the face that will become static lines. Neuromodulators are used not only to soften existing wrinkles, but to prevent future wrinkles and relax strong muscles. The neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying muscle, causing it to relax and gradually, smoothing out the appearance of the overlying skin.
The effects usually last 3-4 months. Effects can be seen usually on day 4 and full effects can be seen by 2 weeks.
These tiny injections takes 10-30 minutes and involves minimal to zero pain.
Treatment maintenance is recommended every 3-4 months on average. Duration varies among each patient.
